"Beginners are our specialty."

Our lesson instructors and horses are very experienced and love what they do. We have horses for every level of rider, from a beginner to someone looking to compete or own and train their own horse one day.

You will begin with a private lesson that will judge your level and capabilities, and then you will be matched up with a horse. In general, you will ride the same horse each lesson, unless otherwise stated before your lesson begins. As you advance, you will progress onto new horses with new challenges and difficulties, which will make you a stronger rider. You will join a group lesson (maximum 4 riders) once you show sufficient skills to control the horse enough to work independently on the rail.   You will also learn to groom and tack up the horse as well as untack, blanket and feed your horse when you are finished.

Our goal is to teach our riders to be able to ride anything they come across, how to do it safely and how to have fun.  We also take our students on the trails to learn experiences they cannot learn in the confines of an arena.  When they become more advanced, we teach them how to train young horses on their own, preparing them for future horse ownership.

We also take our students who want to go to local horse shows, so they can present their skills in a show ring to the judge. We are Three Day Event riders, and when the students have mastered Dressage, Jumping in the Open and Arena Jumping they can enter a 3 Day Event about 2 hours drive from here.

Our MOMMY & ME PROGRAM is designed for ages 3 to 5 years old.  Participants include both the child AND their parent or guardian. An instructor teaches you how to get the horse out of the stable, tie him up, groom him and put on the saddle and bridle. Your child can assist in the grooming in any way they can reach!  Then you put your child in the saddle and an instructor takes both of you out to the arena and teaches you how to play games that help the child learn balance and rhythm and become comfortable on a horse's back. When the ride is over, you untack the horse and take him back to his stable.

MEET OUR LESSON HORSES:
(More info to come soon!)

Pen
ny is a small white pony mare. She is a very levelheaded, sweet horse that our students love to ride. She is the staple of our girl scout grooming lessons. Penny is also the dam (mother) of Pete, another one of our lesson horses.

Pete
is Penny's son. He is a very spunky pony, and our students have a blast riding him. He is suited for our intermediate riders, because he loves to jump. Pete also has one of the loudest whinnies in the stable, and loves to scream at his neighbors. A joy to ride, he is a favorite of quite a few of our students.

M
idnight is our large draft cross mare. She is a great ride, forgiving, and smooth. She loves to cuddle, and she teaches many of our students who are in the beginning and intermediate stages of learning.

Hook
is now 8 years old and is a horse we use to teach the more advanced riders how to train a young, green horse. He has grown tremendously, both in height and ability since we first acquired him as a 4 year old, but our students still learn so much from him. Our more advanced riders love to ride him, because he is sweet, level-headed, and very scopey over jumps. He is named Hook because he is a black and white paint  (he has a black neck with a white hook on it).

Toby is a spunky pony who has been in training for almost a year. He used to be a little wild, and he was very overweight. As of now he is ridden weekly by one of the students, and lunged and ground driven whenever possible. He is now becoming a very docile and agreeable riding pony. Toby loves to jump, and despite his spunk, our students love him. He is a Norwegian Fjord/Shetland cross.
